On the sea, literary atmosphere and the courage to write – with prize-winning author Josefine Soppa
“Soppa’s protagonists live and love in a staccato between jobs, unemployment and old-age poverty. Although they are exhausted, the writing in this debut is totally fresh. These women are ready for the dream of a seaside collective,” wrote Daniela Dröscher about Josefine Soppa’s atmospheric debut novel Mirmar. Soppa studied philosophy of arts and media in Dresden and Hildesheim. In 2020, she received the “open mike” prose award and a fellowship from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation. We can now offer our congratulations on yet another honor: the renowned NRW-Förderpreis for literature from the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. This prize has been presented since 1957 to exceptionally talented artists who are expected to make important contributions to the arts in the future as well.
Soppa will speak to Christian Schärf, an author and professor at the Institute for Literary Writing at the University of Hildesheim, about her oeuvre, her workshop and her sources of inspiration.
