“The greatest lost loves of my life were my female friends” – Emilia Roig on Loving in all its forms
Emilia Roig stands for radical change. In her books (“Why We Matter”, “The End of Marriage”), she advocates for equality and reveals patterns of racist and patriarchal oppression. Her new essay Loving is a plea for a more just society because, in Roig’s opinion, love should be for everyone, whether it’s family, lovers or friends. In a patriarchal society, however, romantic love between couples lays claim to all aspects of this form of commitment: desire, jealousy, intimacy, dependence and tenderness.
In this book, Roig gives us insights into her own life and revolutionizes our concept of love. She demands an end to the fixation on partnerships of two, she questions relationship models and she considers love as a transformative energy that links us not only with family and friends but also with all people and nature. This book is an invitation to greater solidarity, empathy and courage. Host: Stephanie Rohde
